Ancient sanctuary Apollo and Demetra in the hamlet of Sagri of Naxos, at Girula you may  admire one of the most remarkable buildings of ancient Naxos, the Temple of Apollo and the goddess Demetra. Its creation dates back to the decade 530-520 BC. and is of Ionic style, architecturally considered a precursor of the Parthenon. The temple is made entirely of white marble and has a  square shape, with columns on its facade. Inscriptions found in the Holy Temple testify that the interior of the temple was used for the worship of Goddess Demeter and her daughter. Today, the rebuilding of the temple has been completed and a museum is also inside the temple.
